Thank you to our donors and supporters for making this such a significant year for The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation. Because of your generosity, we empowered twenty-eight breast cancer survivors in our industry by giving Support Grants totaling $207,400, which eased the stress they were experiencing and enabled them to concentrate more fully on recovery and healing.

These grants went to women from the west coast, including California, Arizona, Colorado, and Oregon, across the country to the south, including women in Alabama, Louisiana, and Tennessee, to those along the east coast from Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New Jersey and New York down to North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Our growing support network is responsible for the expanse of our outreach. 

Thirteen of the twenty-eight survivors were women under the age of 40, with several under the age of 30.  It is a tribute to these thirteen young women that they were aware of something happening to their bodies and they persisted in seeking answers regarding a diagnosis. For most of them, it meant they were able to receive care even when it meant they had to travel to comprehensive cancer centers in other states to do so.

Unfortunately for one, the medical care did not come soon enough. This twenty-five-year-old mother of two had a difficult battle and she faced it with the inner peace and strength that came from her strong faith. She knew the battle would be long— “the doctors think several more years or till I die, which is hopefully at least twenty more years.” The grant she received provided some relief in knowing daycare for her children would be provided for a few months. She was a positive young woman, and it was my honor to work with her.

Donations, product designations and fundraisers bring in the money needed to continue supporting these young survivors. Thank you to each of you who have supported this foundation in some way in 2023. With your continued belief in our mission, you honor each of these strong and resilient women.
